* Step 1

In a large bowl, mix butter using an electric mixer at medium until high for thirty minutes. Add sugar; beat until combined. Add egg; beat until combined. Mix with baking powder, flour and salt. Divide dough into two halves.

* Step 2

Form each portion of the dough into a 12-inch long rope. Further, wrap it around and freeze for about an hour or so or until the dough is firm.

* Step 3

Preheat oven to 325 ° F. Unwrap the dough and carefully cut the frozen dough into pieces of 1/2-inch thick. Lay them, cut sides down on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.  Finally, add the desired herbs or seeds. Press in lightly, if required.

* Step 4

For 12 to 15 mins or so, bake until the edges become golden. Then, remove cookies from baking sheets; cool on a rack of wire.
